Hi everyone!
Onto week two, and the list asks How can players make a world seem real?
I think that players can make the world seem real by immersing themselves into it. I am running a playtest for Era: Lost Legend at the moment and, although the world is a little ridiculous at times, I think everyone is feeling very immersed…
Even the pragmatic guy points out not that the world is stupid, but that the company that owns the troops they are fighting against is – they don’t look after their people, so some turn traitor, and management give stupid instructions sometimes!
I think the key is to have the players buy into the world enough that they want to make it real, and then sit back and watch as the magic happens (literally, in some settings!).
